In May 2002, Runnymede, with the support of the LSE Centre for the Study of Global Governance, hosted a conference to further illuminate what community cohesion means in light of the response to the report by the Commission on the Future of Multi-Ethnic Britain in October 2000. The conference gathered leading academics from the UK, Europe and the USA. Papers from the conference are presented plus a selection of panel session transcripts and an invited paper. They show the breadth and importance of this ongoing debate and provide signposts along routes that might be taken towards nurturing a successful multi-ethnic nation.
